How do I connect to the Guest Wi-Fi network on campus (Carthage-Guest)? - NOT IN RES HALLS

Answer

Carthage-Guest is the College's unencrypted Wi-Fi network for on-campus guests (users without a current Carthage username).

  • When you connect to Carthage-Guest, your browser should bring you to a "captive portal" website. (If it does not, please open your browser and try navigating to any webpage; the portal should then appear.)
  • Please provide your name and email address, check the "Terms of Service" box, and type "firebird" (without the quotation marks) into the passcode field.
  • Access will last for 24 hours. You will need to repeat this process the following day if you still require access.

Special note for Guest Wi-Fi access in the Residence Halls:

  • Residence halls use Carthage-Secure (log in with Carthage username and password) and Carthage-Open (for guest access and non-browser-based devices) until Fall 2026.
  • Guests in the halls will need to connect to both the old and new networks, and their devices will automatically switch as they walk from one end of campus to the other.
