Frequently Asked Questions

Slingshot is the Carthage College Campus Bookstore. Through the Slingshot app dashboard, you can:

• Review a list of your required textbooks and course materials. All students will be able to see the required course materials 90 days before the semester begins.
• Part-time students, graduate students, and students who have opted out of the Equitable Access Program can purchase textbooks and course materials.
• Access digital course materials. Any electronic materials for your courses can be found on the Slingshot dashboard.
• Change your shipping address. If you are a residential student, your materials will be available for pickup in the Campus Store.
• Print shipping labels for rental returns. Rentals can also be returned to the store.
• View transaction and purchase history.
• Request a price quote for selling books back to the Campus Store.
• Purchase Carthage merchandise, gear, and other supplies from the Campus Store.

STUDENT ACCESS TO SLINGSHOT ONLINE PORTAL 

Access the Slingshot portal via your OneLogin portal.

1. In OneLogin, choose the "Student: Slingshot Bookstore" tile. If you don't see the Slingshot icon on the dashboard, click the "Carthage: Everything" link under the search box.
2. Since you are already logged into OneLogin, you should be passed through to your Slingshot portal. If you are asked to log in, click the "Sign in with School account" button.
3. Inside Slingshot, you should see your name on the Dashboard. 
4. Click on "My Course Materials" in the top menu bar. 

LOOKING AT MY COURSE MATERIALS

Under "Course Materials," you will see the textbooks, ebooks, and supplies that are required for your classes and provided by the bookstore to you specifically.

A. Print materials and physical supplies will be listed as a "Book Purchase" (see image below). You will have to pick these items up from the bookstore.

B. Rental textbooks will be listed as a "Book Rental" (see image below). You will have to pick these items up from the bookstore.

C. Digital textbooks will be provided through the Slingshot portal app in most cases (see image below). You should be able to access the electronic textbook using the "Access Material" button on the right of the entry. The page that pops up will be from the textbook publisher, and each publisher is different. You may be prompted to create an account for that publishing company to access the book. Follow the directions to access. If you have questions, please contact the bookstore (bookstore@carthage.edu) or your professor.

NOTE: Sometimes the bookstore will provide you with a physical card that will have an access code for your e-textbook. Follow the instructions from the bookstore or your professor for access.
