How to check if I have the Carbon Black Client

Answer

Carbon Black is a system that Carthage uses on all Carthage-owned computers for endpoint detection and remediation.  It should be installed on all faculty and staff computers as well as public and lab computers. Its purpose is to protect computers from ransomware and other dangerous malware. It runs silently in the background on your computer and will not impact performance. It does not monitor you.

You can check if you have the Carbon Black sensor (sometimes called an agent or client) as follows. If you do not have Carbon Black on your Carthage-owned computer please request a link to install it by emailing help@carthage.edu.

The Carbon Black icon looks like this and may be solid blue:

Windows Users

Look for the Carbon Black icon in the sys tray at the lower right of your screen.

You can also search your installed Programs or your Windows menu for Carbon Black Cloud.

Mac Users

Look in the menu bar at the upper right corner of your screen for the Carbon Black icon.

You can also look in your Applications folder for a folder called VMWare Carbon Black Cloud.
