Installing Adobe apps with the Adobe "Student" license on your Carthage-issued Mac.
Answer
(Note: "Student" is what Adobe calls this type of license. It's in no way exclusive to students. For our purposes, it's a misnomer.)
Here's the process:
- If you haven't already, send a request to help@carthage.edu.
- Once you're approved, you'll receive an email from Adobe titled Get started with Creative Cloud All Apps Student License.
- Click the Get Started button in the email.
- Click Company or School Account
- Sign into OneLogin, if you aren't signed in already.
- Under Available in your plan, under Creative Cloud, click the Download button.
- Once Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmg is downloaded, open it.
- Double-click Creative Cloud Installer to launch the installer.
- You'll get a “Creative Cloud Installer” is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it? warning. Click Open.
- You'll get a “Creative Cloud Installer” would like to access files in your Desktop folder. warning. Click OK.
- The installer will ask for "Account authentication", which is your computer password. Give it when prompted.
- If you get a “com.adobe.acc.installer.v2” would like to access files in your Desktop folder. warning, click OK.
- A webpage will open up to "Adobe ID" to double-check that you're signed in. You can close it.
- While the Adobe Creative Cloud installer is running, it will offer you a survey. You don't have to take the survey, you can just let the installer go.
- When the installer is done, the Adobe Creative Cloud app will launch. It should automatically sign you in.
- Install the apps you need from inside the Adobe Creative Cloud app.
That's it. If you run into an issue, describe it in an email to help@carthage.edu, and someone from LIS will help you out.
