Installing Adobe apps with the Adobe "Student" license on your Carthage-issued Mac.

Answer

(Note: "Student" is what Adobe calls this type of license. It's in no way exclusive to students. For our purposes, it's a misnomer.)

Here's the process:

  1. If you haven't already, send a request to help@carthage.edu.
  2. Once you're approved, you'll receive an email from Adobe titled Get started with Creative Cloud All Apps Student License.
  3. Click the Get Started button in the email.
  4. Click Company or School Account
  5. Sign into OneLogin, if you aren't signed in already.
  6. Under Available in your plan, under Creative Cloud, click the Download button.
  7. Once Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmg is downloaded, open it.
  8. Double-click Creative Cloud Installer to launch the installer.
  9. You'll get a “Creative Cloud Installer” is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it? warning. Click Open.
  10. You'll get a “Creative Cloud Installer” would like to access files in your Desktop folder. warning. Click OK.
  11. The installer will ask for "Account authentication", which is your computer password. Give it when prompted.
  12. If you get a “com.adobe.acc.installer.v2” would like to access files in your Desktop folder. warning, click OK.
  13. A webpage will open up to "Adobe ID" to double-check that you're signed in. You can close it.
  14. While the Adobe Creative Cloud installer is running, it will offer you a survey. You don't have to take the survey, you can just let the installer go.
  15. When the installer is done, the Adobe Creative Cloud app will launch. It should automatically sign you in.
  16. Install the apps you need from inside the Adobe Creative Cloud app.

That's it. If you run into an issue, describe it in an email to help@carthage.edu, and someone from LIS will help you out.
