Update / Upgrade macOS

Reinstall the PaperCut Client

First, we quit the Papercut client.

1. Open Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor)
2. Select the process named UserClient, then click the stop sign icon in the toolbar to stop the process. When prompted, select Quit.
3. Quit Activity Monitor.

Next, we grab the new PaperCut client and set it up.

4. Make sure you're signed into NoMAD.
5. Open a Finder window, then use the Command+K keyboard shortcut to connect to the following server: smb://papercut-app/pcclient/mac
6. Copy the PCClient app from this server folder to your Applications folder. When prompted, select Replace.
7. Navigate to your Applications folder.
8. Right-click on PCClient → Select Show Package Contents.
9. Navigate to Contents → Resources
10. Double-click install-login-hook.command, which will launch a Terminal window. When prompted, type no and press Enter.
11. Type your computer password when prompted, then press Enter.
12. Close the Terminal window when it's done.
13. Double-click pc-client-mac.command, which will launch a Terminal window.
14. It will print some lines of text. When it prints WARNING: All illegal access operations will be denied in a future release, use the Control+C keyboard command to kill the process.
15. Type exit and press Enter to close that Terminal window.
16. Double-click set-permissions.command, which will launch a Terminal window.
17. Type your computer password when prompted, then press Enter.
18. Close the Terminal window when it's done.

Next, we have to fix the IP address.

19. Open a Terminal window.
20. Type or copy/paste the following: nano /Applications/PCClient.app/Contents/Resources/config.properties
21. Change server-ip to be 10.2.2.1.
22. Use the Control+X keyboard shortcut to save your changes.
23. When prompted, type y, then press Enter.

Reinstall the Printer Share

1. Open System Preferences → Printers & Scanners
2. If you've got any permutation of "Carthage Print" in your list of printeres, remove it by selecting it and clicking the - (minus) button.
3. Click the + (plus) button.
4. Right-click in the Add Printer window's toolbar → Customize Toolbar...
5. Drag the Advanced icon into the Add Printer window's toolbar.
6. Click Done.
7. Click on the Advanced button in the Add Printer window's toolbar.
8. Give the window a second to load.
9. Select Windows printer via spoolss from the Type dropdown menu.
10. Change the URL to smb://papercut-app/carthageprint
11. Set the Name to PaperCut / Carthage Print
12. Select Generic PCL Printer from the Use dropdown menu.
13. Click the Add button.
14. When prompted, check the Duplexer option, then click the OK button.
