Drive: How do I create a Google Shared Drive?
I have a group that needs to share files and info. Can I create a Shared (Team) Drive? Do I have to request one?
Answer
Any Carthage user can create a Google Shared Team Drive for a group or project, as follows:
- Login to your Carthage Gmail account
- From the "Rubik's cube" / "waffle" icon at the upper right corner of the screen
- From the apps listed, click on the Drive icon
- Click "Shared Drives" from the list on the left. That will show you the Team Drives that you already have access to (if any.)
- Click the + New icon at the upper left
- Enter the name of the drive (be as descriptive as possible) in the box and click Create
- You can then manage the membership of your Shared Drive the way you would any Google Drive. The major difference is that the Shared Drive will persist even if the Owner leaves or no longer has a login.
