How do I disable Mac Randomization or Private Address on an iOS device?

Answer

A default feature put in place by Apple and Google is intended to make devices more secure and less trackable. This feature randomizes MAC addresses on devices connected to wifi.

What that means at Carthage, is that when users travel from building to building, MAC addresses automatically change, so network registration and access may drop.

To counter that, you will want to make sure MAC Randomization ad Private Address are disabled on your mobile devices.  Here is how:

To Disable MAC Randomization on iOS Devices:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
  2. Tap Wi-Fi or WLAN.
  3. Tap the information button next to your network.

  1. Toggle off Private Address.

  1. Re-join the network when prompted.
