How do I connect to the S: Drive on my Mac?
Answer
- Make Finder the active application by clicking somewhere on your desktop, then go to the Go menu > Connect to Server...
- In the window that pops up, type smb://cc-ad-fs-01/SHARE and then click the Connect button. (See image below)
- You may get a warning that you're attempting to connect to "cc-ad-fs-01". Click the Connect button.
- Clear out whatever is in the Name field and type your Carthage username (your Carthage email address without the @carthage.edu on the end), then enter your Carthage password (same as your email password). Check the Remember this password in my keychain box, then click Connect.
- If you entered your username and password correctly, a Finder window will open up to the root directory of the S drive.
- Next, we're going to make sure your computer connects to the S drive every time you turn your computer on. Open System Preferences (Apple menu > System Preferences...) and go to Users & Groups. Click on the Login Items tab.
- Click the + (plus) button, and when a pane pops up to let you pick an item to add to login items, press Command-Shift-C to go to the Computer folder. Click on the SHARE folder, then click the Add button.
- We don't want a Finder window to the root directory of the S drive to open up every time you log in, so check the Hide box next to SHARE in the list of Login Items.
That's it! You're connected to the S drive, and your computer will reconnect to the S drive every time you login.
