How do I sync my Carthage & Mac passwords using NoMAD?

By default, your computer password (the password you use to log into your computer, install applications on your computer, etc.) and your Carthage password aren't the same. If you'd like them to be the same, follow the steps below. There are a few advantages to having your passwords sync: Printing to CarthagePrint, using the S Drive, and a few other things get a bit easier on the Mac.
- You MUST be connected to the Carthage network for this to work! Connect to Carthage-Open or Carthage-Secure if you're on WiFi, or connect to Ethernet on campus.
- Open Terminal (located at Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
- Copy-paste the following, then hit Enter:
sudo defaults write com.trusourcelabs.NoMAD LocalPasswordSync 1 - You will be prompted for your computer password. Note that as you type, dots don't appear to indicate how long your password is; this is a security feature. Hit Enter when you're done entering your computer password.
- Quit Terminal.
- Restart your computer.
- When you log back in, NoMAD will inform you that your network (read: Carthage) and computer passwords are different. It will prompt you for your current computer password, then change your computer password to match your network (Carthage) password.
- Restart your computer.
- Log into your computer using your Carthage password.
If that password works, then this was a success!
