Can I search the library catalog for resources in a specific language?
Answer
The Carthage Library catalog allows for users to create a search that will show only resources written in a specific language. Some of the individual databases licensed by Carthage also provide the ability to search for articles and other types of resources by language.
- Use a web browser to go to the Carthage library website at http://www.carthage.edu/library.
- Click the "Library" box.
- Click the "Library Catalog and Research" link.
- The catalog search box is in the top, center of the page. Click "Advanced Search," enter keywords, title, or author of the item you are searching for.
- Further down the page, under the "Narrow your search" heading, look for "Language." Next to this option is a drop-down menu where you can choose the language in which you want the resources to have been written.
Note: This option does not convert all resources to display in a certain language. The resource will have to have been written in that language itself or made available by a publisher in that language.
