Can I search the library catalog for resources in a specific language?

Answer

The Carthage Library catalog allows for users to create a search that will show only resources written in a specific language. Some of the individual databases licensed by Carthage also provide the ability to search for articles and other types of resources by language.

  1. Use a web browser to go to the Carthage library website at http://www.carthage.edu/library.
  2. Click the "Library" box.
  3. Click the "Library Catalog and Research" link.
  4. The catalog search box is in the top, center of the page. Click "Advanced Search," enter keywords, title, or author of the item you are searching for.
  5. Further down the page, under the "Narrow your search" heading, look for "Language." Next to this option is a drop-down menu where you can choose the language in which you want the resources to have been written.

Note: This option does not convert all resources to display in a certain language. The resource will have to have been written in that language itself or made available by a publisher in that language.
