Gmail: How do I set up my Carthage Gmail account on my mobile device?

If you are using the built-in email app on your mobile device, it may no longer work as of May 2021. Because of security concerns, Carthage no longer allows connections to our Gmail from client apps that use POP/IMAP. Please read below:
Carthage College supports using the Gmail app on your mobile device for accessing school email accounts.
Setting up your Carthage Gmail account on your iOS (iPhone and iPad) device
1. Download the Gmail app onto your mobile device.
2. Open the application.
3. Click "Sign in."
4. On the "Add account" page, click the type of account you'd like to add to the app. In the case of the Carthage email accounts, click "Google."
5. Click "Continue" when Gmail tells you it would like to "Use 'google.com' to Sign in."
6. Sign in with your Carthage email address and password.
7. You might be asked to complete a 2-Step Verification. Click the "Send" button for Google to send you the 2FA notification.
8. You should now be logged in to your Carthage Gmail account. You may make changes to how the account by clicking your profile picture in the upper, right, or clicking the stacked lines in the upper, left and navigating to "Settings."
Adding other email accounts to the Gmail app
You may add both Gmail and non-Gmail accounts to the Gmail app on your iPhone or iPad.
1. Once logged in to the Gmail app, click on your profile picture in the upper, right.
2. Click "Add another account."
3. Choose the service you utilize for your email account.
4. Sign in to your email account when prompted.
Setting up your Carthage Gmail account on your Android device
1. Open the Gmail app on your device.
2. If you haven't previously used this app to manage your email accounts, you will be asked to choose which type of email account you have. Click "Google."
3. Sign in with your Carthage email address and password.
